8 listopada 2026

Read the text and underline words that describe how people dress.

Match style with a person who resembles it:

Note! Spice Girls was a British girl’s band popular in the 90s’ and 00s’. Their hits include Spice Up Your Life and Wannabe. All members of the group were recognised by a characteristic of their look

Look at some idioms related to clothes and match them with their meanings:

Try putting the idioms in the correct sentence:

Think about how would you describe your style. Then looked at these items of clothing and match them with the name of the style.

In music groups like that, there are a lot of comparisons between members. Let’s review how we compare different adjectives.

Comparatives and Superlatives

1. Comparatives are used to compare two things.
Formation:

  • For short adjectives (one syllable or two syllables ending in -y), add -er.
  • Example: fast → faster, happy → happier
  • For longer adjectives (two or more syllables), use more before the adjective.
  • Example: interesting → more interesting, beautiful → more beautiful.
  • If the adjective ends in -y, change y to i before adding -er.
  • Example: easy → easier.
  • If the adjective ends in a single vowel + consonant, double the consonant before adding -er.
  • Example: big → bigger.
  • Usage: Comparatives are often followed by than.
  • Example: This book is easier than that one.

2. Superlatives are used to compare three or more things.
Formation:

  • For short adjectives, add -est.
  • Example: fast → fastest, happy → happiest.
  • For long adjectives, use the most before the adjective.
  • Example: interesting → the most interesting, beautiful → the most beautiful.
  • If the adjective ends in -y, change y to i before adding -est.
  • Example: easy → easiest.
  • If the adjective ends in a single vowel + consonant, double the consonant before adding -est.
  • Example: big → biggest
  • Usage: Superlatives are often used with the.
  • Example: This is the easiest test.
  • Examples in Sentences:
  • My house is bigger than my friend’s house. (Comparative)
  • This is the most difficult question on the test. (Superlative)
  • She is happier now than before. (Comparative)
  • He is the best player on the team. (Superlative)
  • Now you know how to use comparatives and superlatives correctly!

Review the information in this fill in the gap exercise.

Now try and practice forming some irregular comparatives and superlatives

Irregular Comparatives and Superlatives

Some adjectives do not follow the regular rules. They have unique forms:

• Further and farther both refer to distance, but further can also mean “additional.”
◦ Example: He ran farther than me. / I need further explanation.
• Elder and eldest are used mainly for people in a family.
◦ Example: My elder sister is a doctor. / He is the eldest in the family.
• Less is used for uncountable nouns, while fewer is used for countable nouns.
◦ Example: I have less sugar. / I have fewer apples.

Now read the sentences and write the correct option form of the superlative/comparative.

Let us review the vocabulary from the lesson.
